Job summary:
Our client, a leading university based in the Northern Emirates, is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Assistant Professor to join their Computing Department. The role involves teaching and research across key areas in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Software Engineering.
Candidates should have both academic and/or industry experience and a passion for delivering engaging, student-focused teaching and impactful research.
Job responsibilities
Deliver engaging curriculum in computing disciplines, ensuring alignment with industry trends and academic standards.
Deliver high-quality teaching and learning experiences that inspire and engage students.
Plan, prepare, and conduct lessons aligned with course objectives and learner needs.
Mentor and advise undergraduate and graduate students, fostering their academic and professional growth through personalized guidance.
Collaborate with faculty and industry partners on interdisciplinary projects, enhancing the practical relevance of academic programs.
Publish research findings in reputable journals and present at conferences, establishing yourself as a thought leader in the field.
Design and implement assessment methods to evaluate student performance and program effectiveness, ensuring continuous improvement.
Participate in departmental committees and contribute to strategic planning, shaping the future direction of the computing department.
Engage in community outreach and professional development activities, promoting the computing program and its benefits to prospective students.
Utilize modern teaching technologies and methodologies to enhance student learning experiences and accessibility.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of computing advancements, integrating new tools and techniques into coursework and research.
Set, mark, and assess coursework, assignments, and exams in line with university policies.
Provide timely and constructive feedback on students’ academic performance.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, attendance, and academic activities.
Supervise student research and projects at undergraduate/graduate levels.
Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement initiatives.
Carry out scholarly research in areas of specialization and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
Attend department, academic, and institutional meetings and participate in quality assurance activities.
Prepare exemplars and proctor assessments as required, ensuring alignment with internal verification standards.
Job requirements
A Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field with professionally qualified, demonstrating a strong foundation in theoretical and practical aspects of computing subjects like Advanced Software Development, Systems for Big Data Analytics, Statistical Data Analysis, Data Mining & Data Privacy, Data Visualization & Exploration, Computing, Data, Structures, Discrete Structures, Full Stack Development (JavaScript, Node.js, React.js), Core Java & Advanced Java, Web Services using Spring Boot, Mobile Application Development, Natural Language Processing (NLP).
At least 6-8 years of teaching experience at the university level, showcasing a commitment to educational excellence.
Proven research track record with publications in peer-reviewed journals, reflecting active engagement in the academic community.
Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or C++, enabling effective teaching and research. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fostering positive relationships with students and colleagues. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment, contributing to a culture of teamwork and innovation.
Familiarity with online teaching platforms and tools, adapting to diverse learning styles and environments.
Passion for mentoring students, evidenced by previous successful advising or coaching experiences. Fluency in English, with additional language proficiency considered an asset for engaging with diverse student populations. Important Note: Candidates must currently be based in the UAE.
